About me.
My name is Gosia.
I’m a woman in my fifties, and I’m quite comfortable with this stage of life. I’m not going to say that age is “just a number.” I won’t run an ultramarathon, and Everest definitely isn’t on my list, but I did climb Gran Sasso. And I was absolutely fine.
After Poland, Greece, Cyprus, and Scotland, Italy became the fifth country I’ve been living in. I still split my time between Scotland and Puglia, although Puglia has slowly become my main base — largely thanks to Mauro, my Italian partner. Life can be surprisingly generous: even after a divorce, it turns out you can fall in love again.
Unlike half the travel bloggers on the internet, I didn’t quit a corporate job to ‘find myself’ or escape a cubicle. I’ve never worked for a corporation. I’ve always worked for myself, run my own businesses, and I still do—now, straight from my base in Italy.
Living in several countries made me fluent in a few languages and left me with a suitcase full of experiences. I’m drawn to places that are a bit off the map, to nature and mountains — especially the moment you reach the top, not the technical climbing part. I also love tasting unusual local food, even though cooking itself has never been my passion.
You won’t find strict advice here on how many hours or days you “should” spend in a place. Sometimes I mention how long I stayed, sometimes I don’t — mostly because everyone travels at a different pace, and I don’t really believe in one-size-fits-all itineraries.
I usually travel by car, because I like the freedom it gives me — and because public transport in Italy can be… challenging, whenever I know something useful about other ways of getting around, I’ll share that too.
Everything you read here is based on my own experience; I write about places the way I experience them, not as a checklist of what you should see or do.
I write about Italy as I see it and feel it: beautiful, chaotic, slightly absurd, often pretty annoying but also breathtaking.
