Less Touristy Italy
Eat, Discover, Explore

A blog for those who don't like beathen paths.

About me.

My name is Gosia.

I’m a woman in my fifties, and honestly — I quite like this stage of life. I won’t pretend age is “just a number”: I’m not running an ultramarathon anytime soon, and Everest isn’t on my list, but I did climb Gran Sasso and survived perfectly well.

After Poland, Greece, Cyprus and Scotland, Italy became the fifth country I’ve lived in. I still divide my time between Scotland and Apulia, though Apulia turned into my main base — largely thanks to Mauro, my Italian partner. Life is funny: even after a divorce, you can apparently fall in love again.

Living in several countries gave me five languages and a suitcase full of experiences. I love off-the-map places, nature, mountains (especially reaching the summit, not the technical climbing part), and tasting local food… even though cooking isn’t my passion.

I write about Italy as it really is: beautiful, chaotic, slightly absurd, sometimes annoying, often breathtaking.

No sugarcoating, no postcard fantasy — just real life, humour and “did this really just happen?” moments.

If you enjoy discovering lesser-known places, seeing Italy without filters and laughing at the occasional absurdity of it all — you’re in the right place.

Enjoy discovering lesser-known Italy!
